Lafayette Living Is Great — Until Louisiana Weather Shows Up
Lafayette is the heart of Acadiana — Moncus Park, Vermilionville, the Acadiana Park Nature Station, Festival International every spring, and a food scene built for eating outside. It’s a city built around getting outside.
But even here, the same problem shows up every summer: afternoon heat and humidity that make the patio unusable by two o’clock, thunderstorms that build out of nowhere, mosquitoes that own the evening, and a backyard that sits empty for months despite everything you put into it. And from June through November, Lafayette homeowners keep one eye on the Gulf — Laura, Delta, and Ida all left their mark on Acadiana.
You chose Lafayette because you wanted to live in it — outdoors included, not just on the handful of perfect days.
3 Frustrations Lafayette Homeowners Know Too Well:
- Afternoon heat and humidity turning the patio into a space nobody wants to sit in
- Mosquitoes off the Vermilion and the coulees owning the patio from dusk on
- Sun and UV glare fading furniture, flooring, and finishes faster than they should
